Win for YBS at Yorkshire Post Business Awards

Yorkshire Building Society picked up the Large Business of the Year award at the Yorkshire Post Business Awards yesterday.

More than 300 guests attended a black-tie event at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, with 82 finalists across 17 award categories.

As the Society was named Large Business of the Year, TV presenter host Christine Talbot said: “The judges said this trusted regional and national brand delivers strong financial results and genuine social impact. Innovative services and campaigns demonstrate real commitment to helping customers save and access housing. It makes them a deserved winner of our Large Business Award tonight for their leadership, innovation and lasting community impact.”

The mutual, which has head office sites in Leeds, Bradford and Peterborough, was also named a finalist in two other categories, Employee Health and Wellbeing Award and Business Leader, for its Chief Executive Susan Allen.

Holly Rankin, Chief People Officer at Yorkshire Building Society, said: “We are extremely proud to be finalists in three categories, and to win Large Business of the Year, in a region home to so many thriving and innovative businesses.

“These awards reflect the fantastic work done by our colleagues across the Society every day – from providing products and services that our members value to supporting our communities.

“Here at Yorkshire Building Society, we are very proud of our Yorkshire roots and our 160-year history, which shows a business can succeed and grow while remaining ethical and purpose-driven.”
