Opening a new savings account with a power of attorney
If an account holder needs help managing their money, they can give someone they trust legal permission to help them. This is done through a legal document called a power of attorney.
After the power of attorney has been set up, it can be used to open a new savings account with us. This page explains how.

You can only do this by either visiting your nearest branch, or by writing to us at:

What we need from you

A completed power of attorney appointee form.

The power of attorney document (if it is not already registered with us on another YBS account).
We can accept the original power of attorney document, a certified copy or your online verification code from the Office of the Public Guardian. If you have already provided this to us for another YBS account, you will not need to provide it to us again.
