The training here is brilliant. It's regular and if you are unsure about anything, N&P will come up with a training plan to help you out.
When I joined N&P I had no experience of financial services. I had come straight from university but wanted to start a career. I applied to loads of banks and building societies but N&P had the most straightforward application process. They called me straight away and I was constantly informed of my application status.
I started in the Customer Services Team and I progressed from there. I smashed my targets and so I moved up the first level of career progression in 3 months rather than the standard 6 months. I then moved in to the Mortgage Team where I have risen another 2 levels and I have now qualified as a Mortgage Expert. When it comes to progression, N&P offers you many options.
You deal with all sorts of customers on the phone. You need to establish what the query is and deal with it in the best way. It's quite challenging - you are on the front line and you are talking to all different types of people. It's not a pressurised sales environment, but we do have targets to meet.
There's always acknowledgement of what you do. I was Adviser of the Month for four months running. Last year my team won Team of the Year and I also won an award for continued high level of customer service and a Top Performer Award.
The awards events are great. N&P treats you really well and it recognises your individual achievements. It's nice to be up on stage and have Matthew (our Chief Exec) shake your hand and recognise what you've done. Now, when he sees me around the building, he'll ask me how I'm doing. It's a really friendly place to work.
